St Catherine’s Aquatic is a reputable sports club located in Melbourne, Australia. With a state-of-the-art facility called the Marigold Southey Sports & Aquatic Centre, the club offers a wide range of aquatic programmes for individuals of all ages and skill levels.
During school hours, St Catherine’s provides Physical Education classes that incorporate various activities such as diving, underwater hockey, and swimming and lifesaving skills. This allows students to improve their overall fitness while also learning valuable water safety skills.
The club also offers after-school Learn to Swim programmes in partnership with H2O Swimming Works. These programmes are available on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday afternoons for children aged 3 years and above. The primary goal of these programmes is to equip students with the fundamentals of good stroke technique and water safety skills. Small class sizes and longer 45-minute lessons for swimmers aged 4 years and over ensure sufficient time to revise and consolidate skills.
Additionally, for busy parents, the club offers Holiday Intensives, which are a great way to fast track swimming skills.
Once students graduate from the Learn to Swim programme, they can progress to the club's Squad Training programmes. St Catherine’s is proud to partner with the Melbourne Swimming Club (MSC), led by Former Australian Olympic Coach Ian Pope. MSC is a competitive swimming club dedicated to developing a culture of support and excellence, and creating pathways for athletes to become future leaders in the swimming community.
Squad programmes offered by the club include Pre-squad (Silver Squad – 1 session per week, ages 9-12) and (Gold Squad – 2 sessions per week, ages 10-12). These squads focus on further developing the technique of swim school graduates and introducing them to the fundamentals of competitive racing. The club also offers a Development Squad, which consists of 3 sessions per week and is designed for swimmers of a higher standard than the pre-squad.
