The grading system at the academy holds immense significance and adheres to the traditional values of Taekwondo. Belts and gradings are recognised both in Taekwondo Australia and the World Taekwondo Federation. Gradings take place at the end of each term, indicating the attainment of required skill levels. Black belt dan certifications, recognised worldwide, are awarded by the Kukkiwon federation in Korea.
Beginning with a trial, newcomers are encouraged to purchase a taekwondo uniform, called a Dobok, which includes a white belt. The white belt symbolises innocence, representing the first step on the Taekwondo journey. Each coloured belt has three levels called Gups, from 9th to 1st, with an additional level for the red belt. Each level is earned through dedication and progress in the art.
As students progress, they move from a yellow belt, symbolising the earth and the foundation of their skills, to a blue belt, representing growth and reaching for the sky. The red belt, with its four levels, indicates danger and the need for self-control. Finally, the esteemed black belt is the ultimate goal, a testament to one's dedication and mastery of Taekwondo.
