South Passage Sail Training Association is a sports club based in Brisbane, Australia. Their vision is to create positive change in the lives of everyone who experiences South Passage: Adventure Under Sail, aiming to provide an experience of a lifetime. The club operates a voyage programme that embodies the R. O.
P. E. S (Respect, Opportunity, Participation, Enjoyment, Safety) Programme, with a focus on developing leadership, initiative, independence, and self-discipline.
South Passage offers participants from all backgrounds a unique growth opportunity outside their comfort zone. By experiencing the force of nature and working together as a team, individuals can learn respect for themselves and others, seize personal growth opportunities, actively participate, find enjoyment in their achievements, and maintain safety while exploring personal boundaries.
The club empowers young people to create positive changes in their lives by providing a life-changing experience. Participants can expect to build their confidence, develop personal skills and teamwork, engage in team-building activities, have a boatload of fun, create lasting memories, and experience the thrill of sailing.
South Passage offers day sails in Moreton Bay, with trips lasting six hours and priced at $137. These day sails are open to anyone, regardless of experience, and participants are encouraged to bring a picnic lunch, swimwear, and a sense of adventure. The club also hosts a special Boxing Day Sail in Sydney Harbour, providing a unique opportunity to witness the start of a major race. This sail lasts six hours and costs $149.
In addition to day sails, South Passage organises youth voyages, including a Sydney School Holiday Youth Voyage from 11th to 14th December 2023. This four-day voyage costs $728 and allows participants to explore Sydney Harbour, Broken Bay, and the surrounding areas. The club also offers youth voyages of 3, 4, 5, 7, or 8 days, with prices starting at $175 per day. These voyages are designed to cater to participants of The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award, offering adventurous journeys for the award programme.
However, individuals aged 13-22 who are keen for an Adventure Under Sail can also participate, regardless of their enrolment in the award programme. Voyages take place along the eastern seaboard, from Cairns to Sydney, as well as in Moreton Bay.
South Passage Sail Training Association provides a unique opportunity for individuals to challenge themselves, develop valuable skills, and create lasting memories through the adventure of sailing.
