The South Australian Sport Parachute Club Inc. (SASPC) is a long-standing sports club that has been in operation since 1962. Located in the District Council of Mallala, South Australia, the club is dedicated to providing a vibrant and inclusive community for sport skydivers in the region.
One of the club's proudest achievements is the ownership of the George Quigley Airfield at Lower Light. This dropzone is leased to Adelaide Tandem Skydiving, and the funds generated from the lease help to support the growth and development of sport skydiving across the entire South Australia.
The club is run by a committee of passionate skydivers who have accumulated a wealth of experience in the sport. Led by President Niall Saunders, who has completed over 800 jumps since 2018, the committee is committed to maintaining a safe and enjoyable skydiving environment for all members. The secretary, Sam Carey, has completed over 120 jumps since 2020, while Treasurer Zack Rosser boasts 1500+ jumps since 2016. Event Organisers Gem Hodges and Ronnie Mulani also bring their extensive experience to the club, with over 1350+ jumps and 650+ jumps respectively.
The SASPC welcomes individuals who are interested in solo skydiving or have experienced a tandem skydive and want to take their skills to the next level. The club offers the Accelerated Freefall Programme (AFF), a comprehensive course consisting of nine stages. Under the guidance of trained instructors, participants will develop skills in both freefall and canopy flight. By the end of the course, individuals will be equipped to skydive solo and explore the exhilarating world of skydiving.
In addition to AFF, the club also offers various skydiving disciplines, including Angles & Tracking. An Angle Flying Dive involves a steeper angle and a faster fall rate compared to conventional tracking jumps. Direction and pitch changes are directed by a central base or leader, allowing for an exciting and dynamic experience.
