Sorrento Football Club (SFC) is a prominent and leading sports club located in Perth, Western Australia. Founded on February 9th, 1972, SFC was launched and supported by the City of Wanneroo. The club initially comprised 77 junior players and 9 members, with the club's colours of turquoise, black, and white being taken from Sorrento Primary School.
During its inaugural year, SFC fielded teams in the under 8, under 13, and under 16 age groups. The club's home ground was initially Marri Reserve at Ayton Way, Duncraig, before relocating to its current home at Percy Doyle Reserve in 1979. To reflect its progressive nature, the club changed its name to Sorrento Football Club (SFC) in 2005.
SFC has a rich history and has established itself as a powerhouse in the Western Australia top Division. The club continues to strive for success and growth, and in 2017, became the first WA NPL football club to reach the last 16 of the FFA Cup, defeating Canberra Olympic FC in the last 32. Presently, the club competes in the WA National premier League.
The mission of Sorrento Football Club Inc. (SFC) is to encourage and facilitate participation in and appreciation of Association football. This is achieved by fielding competitive teams in Football West senior Semi-pro competitions, participation teams in Football West senior competitions of Social, Masters, and Women leagues, as well as competitive and non-competitive teams in Football West junior competitions. SFC aims to provide opportunities for players to develop their football skills while promoting the sport.
