The Shepparton Adventure Club, located in the stunning Shepparton – Mooroopna region of Northern Victoria, is a sports club that specialises in outdoor activities for its members. Established in 1975, the club initially catered to boys aged 8 to 17 but expanded its membership to include anyone of any age in 1979.
The club's primary focus is on bushwalking, offering a range of walks from easy half-day strolls to challenging week-long treks in remote areas. They also provide opportunities for cross-country skiing, canoeing, kayaking, cycle touring, social camping, and social gatherings. Additionally, the club hosts a monthly gathering for retirees known as the “mid-week walkers,” where they can enjoy easy walks and socialise.
Shepparton Adventure Club is affiliated with Bushwalking Victoria, the peak body for bushwalking clubs in Victoria. They aim to organise at least one activity per month, primarily in Victoria but also in other states across Australia. With a non-competitive environment, the club provides guidance and instruction, allowing members to have fun, learn new skills, and enjoy outdoor adventures at minimal cost.
New members are always welcome at Shepparton Adventure Club. Potential members can attend up to three activities as visitors before deciding to join. Interested individuals can participate by attending a club meeting or diving straight into an activity by contacting the trip leader in advance. The membership form, available online or in PDF format, can be found on the club's website.
Annual membership fees for the club are $40 for adult members and $10 for child members under 18. Members are expected to conduct themselves in a lawful and orderly manner, cooperate with fellow members, comply with activity leaders' directions, and preserve the environment at all times.
To stay up-to-date with the Shepparton Adventure Club's activities and updates, individuals can follow them on Facebook. Club meetings are typically held on the 3rd Tuesday of February, April, June, August, and October, either for dinner at the Mechanics Institute/Shepparton Access or at the club's shed on Tom Collins Drive, Victoria Lake.
Whether you're a nature lover, thrill-seeker, or simply seeking a sociable and active community, the Shepparton Adventure Club offers a range of outdoor activities and opportunities to explore the beautiful Shepparton – Mooroopna region and beyond.
