Welcome to Shaolin Monk Martial Arts Coogee, a sports club located in Sydney, Australia. Established with the mission to preserve the teachings of Traditional Shaolin Kung Fu, the club upholds the pure lineage from 30th Generation Grand Master Shi SuXi, Great Master Shi DeFon, and Master Brett Xing Wu Russell.
The philosophy of Shaolin Monk Martial Arts revolves around four main aspects: Kung Fu, Tai Chi, Chi Kung (Qi Gong), and Meditation. These disciplines collectively form the essence of Shaolin, known as Chan. Chan is a philosophy and a path towards cultivating one's body, mind, and spirit to become a better person for themselves and others. Training in Shaolin aims to achieve enlightenment through the experience of movement and action, blending martial arts with meditation.
As the famous Chan saying goes, “Chan Fist One Body” meaning that Chan and Martial Arts are inseparable, with martial arts being a tool to master Chan and attain enlightenment.
Shaolin Monk Martial Arts Coogee has gained recognition in the media for its impressive demonstrations of Tai Chi, Kung Fu, and weapons. These demonstrations are followed by a Q&A session, providing an opportunity for participants to learn more about Shaolin practises. The club has also been featured in Blitz Magazine multiple times, showcasing its dedication to promoting and preserving the teachings of Shaolin.
With 13 schools throughout Australia and Germany, Shaolin Monk Martial Arts has established itself as a reputable and widespread organisation. The Coogee branch is one of the many locations, offering training in Traditional Shaolin Temple Kung Fu. The club's headquarters is located in Adelaide, and other schools can be found in Merrylands, East Sydney, Munich (Germany), Liverpool, North Parramatta, Bondi, Mascot, Sutherland Shire, Manly, Gold Coast, Cremorne, SDF-Salisbury (SA), and SDF-Atlanta (USA).
The lineage of Shaolin Monk Martial Arts is deeply rooted in the teachings of Grand Master Shi SuXi, an ex-president of the Shaolin Temple and one of the last monks of the elder generations. He dedicated 70 years of his life to the Shaolin Temple, enduring hardships to preserve the traditions. Great Master Shi DeFon, a direct student of Grand Master Shi SuXi, continued the legacy by furthering his skills in Shaolin Kung Fu and Shaolin Medicine. His family has a rich history in Kung Fu, with his grandfather and great-grandfather both being Shaolin fighting monks.
Join Shaolin Monk Martial Arts Coogee to experience the authentic teachings of Traditional Shaolin Kung Fu and embark on a journey towards discovering inner peace, stillness, and happiness through the disciplines of Shaolin.
