Salisbury Recreation Precinct, located on Waterloo Corner Road in Salisbury North, South Australia, is a popular sports club in Adelaide. Currently undergoing renovations, the precinct is set to reopen in 2024 as the brand new and exciting Salisbury Aquatic Centre. However, the tennis courts and surrounding reserve remain open to the public during this time.
The redevelopment of the Salisbury Aquatic Centre is a joint effort between the City of Salisbury and the Government of South Australia. The aim is to provide the community of Salisbury with a diverse range of aquatic, health, and leisure services. To ensure that the new aquatic centre meets the needs and desires of the community, a comprehensive consultation process was conducted, garnering significant feedback from the public.
Based on this feedback, the new Salisbury Aquatic Centre will feature a variety of facilities and amenities. These include a new swimming centre building with state-of-the-art infrastructure and amenities, an indoor multi-use lap/leisure pool, and a speciality programme pool. Additionally, there will be a fitness gym, a café, and an outdoor eight-lane 50m swimming pool. For added enjoyment, the centre will also include new outdoor water slides and water play areas.
Landscaping improvements, an upgraded car park, and enhanced pedestrian links will further enhance the overall experience for visitors.
To make way for the new aquatic centre, demolition works of the old infrastructure are currently in progress. The City of Salisbury is actively seeking a suitable construction partner, and it is estimated that the construction of the new centre will take approximately 18 months.
The Salisbury Recreation Precinct, with its new and improved Salisbury Aquatic Centre, promises to be a vibrant and inclusive hub for the Salisbury community. Offering year-round aquatic activities and leisure opportunities, it will be a place for residents of all ages to enjoy swimming for fun, fitness, and education. With its stunning natural surroundings and an array of modern facilities, the Salisbury Recreation Precinct will undoubtedly become a top destination for sports and recreation enthusiasts in Adelaide.
