The SSAA Mount Isa Branch is a sports club located in Mount Isa, Queensland. The club is dedicated to promoting safe and responsible firearm use and ownership, providing firearms training, and maintaining a facility for shooters to enjoy the sport in a safe and socially responsible manner.
As a branch of the Sporting Shooters Association Australia (SSAA), the Mount Isa Branch operates under the code of ethics set forth by the SSAA. Members of the club are committed to obtaining landholder's permission to shoot on their property and consider themselves invited guests. They also adhere to the rules of safe firearm handling and promote the importance of following these rules to others.
In addition to promoting safe firearm use, the club also supports game conservation programmes and clean harvesting of game. Members acquire marksmanship and hunting skills to ensure ethical and responsible hunting practises. The club encourages passing on these attitudes, skills, and knowledge to younger generations to instil them in the future sporting shooters.
The club is governed by an executive committee consisting of a President, Secretary, and Treasurer. These positions are elected at the Annual General Meeting (AGM), and additional office bearers can be appointed as needed by the club. The executive committee is responsible for the overall management and direction of the club, and they may also form subcommittees as necessary.
