The S. S. A. A.
Ipswich Branch Inc is a sports club located in Brisbane, Queensland. It is a part of the Sporting Shooters Association of Australia (SSAA), which was established in 1948 to promote the shooting sports and protect firearms owners' interests. With over 68,000 members, SSAA Queensland is the leading body representing licenced firearms owners in Queensland.
The club offers a range of disciplines and activities for its members to participate in. Shooting is the main focus of the club, with various shooting disciplines available for members to engage in. There is a specific programme catered for juniors, aged 11 years and above, promoting inclusivity and family participation in the sport.
Hunting is also a prominent activity supported by the club. It recognises that hunting is one of the major reasons individuals choose to own firearms in Queensland, and actively promotes and supports this activity among its members.
In addition to shooting and hunting, the club provides opportunities for members interested in air rifle shooting. Modern air rifles are accurate and specialised, providing a different shooting experience compared to traditional firearms.
For those interested in historical reenactment, the club offers a discipline called Rendezvous. This programme focuses on reenacting the lifestyle and firearms of the world during the Muzzleloading Golden Age from 1500 to 1865.
The club is also committed to supporting the local community through its Farmer Assist programme. This programme, pioneered by SSAA Queensland, aims to assist farmers in the management of pest animals through responsible and ethical hunting practises.
To stay informed and connected, members can sign up for the club's newsletter, which provides news, views, and events related to firearms ownership, sport shooting, and recreational hunting.
