About

Rosny Park Bowls Club is a prominent sports club located in Hobart, Tasmania. Established in 1963, the club is situated on leased land that was previously occupied by the Royal Hobart Golf Club. The club's initial clubhouse was the former golf club's building, and in 1974, it was replaced with a new clubhouse that was later expanded in 1997.

The club entered the Southern Tasmanian Bowls Association pennant competition in the 1964/65 season, with teams participating in Divisions 4, 5, and 6. Within four years, the club had earned promotion to Division 1 and went on to win its first Division 1 Pennant in 1974. Since 1996, the Rosny Park Bowls Club has welcomed members of the Clarence Sub-Branch of the RSL, who utilise the club's facilities as their headquarters and for social activities. The partnership has been mutually beneficial, with the club providing space for RSL administration and the display of memorabilia.

The Rosny Park Bowls Club is equipped with three top-notch grass greens, offering an excellent playing surface for bowlers. The club also boasts ample parking space to accommodate over ninety cars and a contemporary clubhouse that provides a spacious and comfortable environment for members and visitors. As a testament to its exceptional facilities, the club is frequently chosen as the host venue for major intrastate, interstate, and national bowling events.

Throughout its history, Rosny Park Bowls Club has been associated with numerous Australian and State Champions who have played for the club. One notable champion is Ron Brooks, who won the Tasmanian Singles in 1980/81 and went on to claim the club's first Australian Title by winning the Australian Champion of State Champions. Brooks later became highly involved in the administration of the sport and even served as a Queensland selector. Another noteworthy player is Ken Pearce, who represented the state as an Australian Manager in the Commonwealth Games held in Edinburgh.

Rosny Park Bowls Club warmly welcomes individuals of all skill levels who are interested in partaking in the engaging and enjoyable sport of lawn bowls. Whether you are a seasoned bowler or a novice, the club offers a friendly and inclusive environment where you can hone your skills, compete in competitive leagues, and forge lasting friendships with fellow bowlers.
