Riverland PowerBoat Club

Riverland PowerBoat Club is a sports club located on the north bank of the River Murray in Berri, South Australia. The club is known for hosting the annual Berri Hotel Speedboat Spectacular, a popular racing event that draws participants from both Australia and the United States.

The Berri Hotel Speedboat Spectacular is a two-day event held on January 22nd, 23rd, and 24th. The event features a thrilling lineup of races, including the prestigious Berri Hotel King of the River race and the Tony Patti Memorial race. There is also a special race held in memory of Les Schrapel, a respected local boat racer.

In 2016, the Riverland PowerBoat Club had the honour of hosting round 2 of the Blown Boat WORLD CUP, attracting top teams from the United States to compete for the cup. The event offers a unique opportunity for spectators to witness high-speed racing on the River Murray.

The event kicks off on Friday afternoon with scrutineering and practise, followed by a street parade along Vaughan terrace. There is also a meet and greet outside the Berri Hotel, as well as a welcome dinner. These events allow fans to get up close to the boats and interact with the drivers.

Both Saturday and Sunday offer action-packed programmes of races, with a total of 20 races on Saturday and 22 races on Sunday. Participants come from all over, including locals, interstate competitors, and international teams. In addition to the racing, the event also features unique displays on the water, ensuring that there is always something happening to keep attendees entertained.

The location of the event provides excellent views of all the racing and marshalling areas, with the added bonus of having the sun behind the audience throughout the day. There is a well-organised public viewing area with ticketed admission, offering a fenced-off course and fantastic views. Entertainment is provided throughout the day for both children and adults, and there are fun side shows for the kids.

Catering facilities will be available, offering a wide variety of snacks and meals, as well as responsible service of alcohol. On Sunday night, there will be a Presentation Dinner at the Berri Hotel for club members, participants, partners, and guests.

Tickets for the event can be purchased at the gate on the day. Prices are $25 for adults on Saturday and $30 on Sunday, while students and pensioners can enjoy discounted rates of $20 on Saturday and $25 on Sunday. Children under 12 accompanied by parents can enter for free or pay $10 without a parent. Corporate tickets are also available for $150 per day, but they must be booked and paid for in advance.
