About

The Ringwood Basketball Association Inc. is a voluntary basketball organisation serving the needs of over 2,000 male and female basketballers of all ages in and around the City of Maroondah, in the outer eastern region of Melbourne.

Our Association is an affiliated member of Basketball Victoria, the official governing body for organised basketball in the State of Victoria.

Our charter is very simple:- to facilitate, promote and develop the sport of basketball for all ages and genders in our region, regardless of ability. Our major vehicle for doing is this through our Junior Saturday Competition which is open to boys and girls teams ranging in age from 7 to 20 from independently run basketball clubs in and around our region. The Ringwood Basketball Association activities are centred around our air-conditioned four-court stadium – the Maroondah Indoor Sports Centre. The Association enjoys a unique relationship with the owners and managers of the stadium, the City of Maroondah.

The Ringwood Basketball Association has evolved from the original Ringwood Basketball Club established in 1981 by John and Meg Walsh with under 9 and under 11 boys teams made up from from students attending Mullum Primary School in Ringwood. John and Meg are Association Life Members. John was heavily involved in coaching both junior and senior representative teams, as well as holding various committee positions.

Players from our junior ranks include: Australian Olympic Basketballers Shane Heal and Tony Ronaldson and NBL past and present players Adam Tanner, Jason Eversteyn, Frank Drmic , Luke Docking, Rupert Sapwell and Matt Shanahan.
