Riding for the Disabled Association of WA (RDAWA) is a community based not for profit charitable organisation that combines the transformative power and the therapeutic effects of horse riding in the provision of equine assisted activities. Our programmes are designed to expand the horizons, develop the abilities and enrich the lives of those involved. RDAWA offers a variety of programmes and services to children and adults with physical & intellectual disabilities, mental health issues and learning & behavioural problems in an inclusive environment. RDAWA helps to develop individuals abilities through the provision of high-quality therapeutic, recreational & educational riding, carriage driving, vaulting, walking with horses and hippotherapy programmes.
For over 43 years RDAWA has helped children and adults to realise their full potential by improving fitness and mobility levels that develop core strength, muscle tone, hand eye coordination and balance. As well as having therapeutic benefits RDAWA programmes provide individuals with opportunities for socialisation, recreation, horsemanship, and pathways to competition (sport) including Special Olympics and Para Olympics. The simple pleasure of working with horses is the cornerstone of RDAWA's activities, working with horses and volunteers improves clients self-esteem and social skills. Being involved in RDAWA also helps to provide a sense of community & belonging for clients, volunteers, and their families, with many making life long friends.
RDAWA relies on the kindness of others to provide our service to those in need within our community. Medical professionals are increasingly recognising that there are significant physical and mental health benefits to being involved with horses and being active within your community so why not become part of RDAWA today and Join the Journey!
