The Victoria Point Australian Football Club was founded in 1966 by Mr Ern Dowling. In 1970 the club changed it's name to the Victoria Point Redlands Australian Football Club. At that stage some 54 members had registered with the club both at a senior and junior level. The club had been approved by the Redlands Shire Council to lease the ground facilities on the corner of Links Road and Colburn Avenue.
In 1972 a further name change took place and the club was now known as Redlands Australian Football Club.
In 1975 the club won it's first topship, beating Sherwood at the Gabba and was elevated to second division.
