QAGA was formed in 2003 by Darren Woodrow after he attended the first Australian Amputee Open at the Coolangatta Tweed Heads Gold Club. Through Darren's effort QAGA has grown to be an organisation of goodwill and support for amputees. QAGA has the express purpose of bringing together amputees and their families through the great game of golf.
QAGA also includes other forms of disability and invites all players and non players to our monthly games which we hold on the first sunday of every month. These games are held at different locations around South East Queensland, and we are looking to expand our games to include our friends from the whole of the state in the near future.
Golf clinics for all players are going to be held at venues to be advised via our website and our Facebook page. We can teach anyone who would like to learn to play and also help those who would like to improve their game.
Golf is a game for all as it has a handicap system that allows for all standards of the game no matter what the disability.
Every year we hold our state championships and this is open to all amputees. We also have special catagories as the need arises as we are expanding into including disability catagories e. g. stroke victims who lose the use of a limb.
