About
Prospect United Netball Club celebrated it’s 40th anniversaryin 2011 & what a long way we have come since the beginning of the Club in 1971.
The idea to form a club first started through children from Shelley Public School, with the headmaster of the time, Mr Frank Parsons, supporting the formation of a club for junior sport & provided the school grounds for this purpose.
How Prospect Netball has grown from then. From primary children only first playing netball, then high school children as well, to their parents, including dads, who played in a mens competition on Friday nights. From originally starting with only a few teams, the Club grew in strength due to new housing in the area and our reputation as a strong, reliable club. Soon we had 25 teams in winter competition & have sourced experienced umpires, coaches and relevant support staff from volunteers within the club.
We are privileged to use the asphalt courts at William Lawson Reserve, Myrtle Street, Prospect for our training & other activities and our competition games are played under Blacktown City Netball Association at International Peace Park.
Prospect Netball has produced some very talented players, from our very first District representative player Julie Grey, to our Australian U17’s team member & National League player Bronwyn Atkins, who still plays reps today. All of our members past & present, life members, supporters, volunteer coaching, umpiring & managerial staff are greatly valued, and we would like to thank each & everyone of them for their great help to the Club over the last 40 years.
