The Progressive Axemen's Association of WA (PAAWA) is a competitive woodchopping club located in Perth, Western Australia. With members ranging from 8 to 80 years old, the PAAWA is a diverse and family-friendly club that welcomes axemen and women of all skill levels.
Competing in woodchopping events such as Underhand, Standing Block, Tree Felling, and Cross Cut Sawing, our club offers an opportunity for our members to showcase their talent and passion for this iconic sport. Woodchopping has been a part of Australian culture since its establishment in 1891, and it continues to hold a special place in the hearts of many Australians.
What sets woodchopping apart as a sport is its handicapped nature, allowing new members with no previous experience to become involved. Whether you have a deep knowledge of the sport or are just starting out, our veterans are always ready to teach you the techniques needed to compete and succeed in woodchopping.
At PAAWA, we believe that competing in a sport gives you a sense of pride and belonging, and there is something truly special about participating in a sport that embodies the Australian spirit. Many of our older members can share stories of how working in an Australian timber mill involved tasks such as cross-cut sawing, tree felling, and wielding an axe. Joining our club not only allows you to compete in a sport, but also connects you to Australia's rich history.
Stay updated on our upcoming events, such as the Wanneroo Show on Sat 18 Nov 18, by visiting our website and social media pages. You can also contact us via phone or email for any inquiries or further information. We are always happy to answer your questions and provide assistance.
The Progressive Axemen's Association of WA is proud to be a part of the Australian Axeman's Association, and we look forward to welcoming new members who share our passion for woodchopping. Join us and become a part of this exciting sport that celebrates strength, skill, and the Australian spirit.
