Port City Breakers were formed in 1993 by an enthusiastic and determined committee who wished to accomodate the large interest of Junior Rugby League in the Port Macquarie District.. First season was in 1994 with 107 players. All age groups train on Tuesdays and Thursday afternoons from 4pm – 5. 00pm at Woods Street Port Macquarie which is Breakers home ground.
Season 2009 will be Breakers Juniors 15th year within the Group 3 JRL competition. Along with Ports other junior club the Sharks, Breakers have produced some special talent that are now seen playing in Ports two Senior clubs as well as in the NRL competitions. Junior Rugby League is alive and thriving in and around Port Macquarie.
Port City Breakers JRLFC caters for children from the age of 5 years to 16 years. Girls are able to play from the age of 5 years to 12 years. Breakers field teams in all age groups starting with the minis, which is for the 5 – 9 yr olds. Mods – 10 to 12 years and International 13 to 16 years.
Minis is non-competitive age group and focuses on skills, drills and most of all good sportsmanship and having fun !!. Mods is the start of competition level but is modified from the international rules.
