Peninsula Little Athletics Centre

Peninsula Little Athletics Centre is a highly regarded sports club located in the Tasman Council region of Australia. Established in the 1977/78 season, the club has been providing children from surrounding areas with a positive and healthy environment to keep fit and active.

With a current membership of 55 junior athletes, Peninsula Little Athletics Centre competes in events organised by the Geelong Little Athletics Centre from October to March each year. Despite being one of the smallest affiliated clubs, the club has consistently achieved remarkable success in competitions. In fact, Peninsula Little Athletics Centre has been named the top club in Geelong in the seasons of 2015-16, 2016-17, 2017-18, and again in 2022-23. The outstanding performances by the club's athletes have been instrumental in these achievements.

To showcase the club's proud history and the trophies it has won, Peninsula Little Athletics Centre recently received funding from the Portarlington Golf Club's Community Contribution Fund. This funding of $450 will be used to acquire a new trophy cabinet. Currently, the club's trophies are stored in suitcases due to the limited space in their tiny shed on the edge of the Drysdale Primary School oval. The new trophy cabinet will allow the club to display its achievements and generate a sense of pride among its members.

It will also inspire future generations of young athletes who can see the success that can be achieved through their involvement in the club.

The Portarlington Golf Club was delighted to support Peninsula Little Athletics Centre's request for funding. The club's chief executive, Michael Phillips, acknowledged the club's track record of success and the importance of showcasing that success to motivate young athletes. The Portarlington Golf Club has been actively involved in charitable endeavours, having provided over $125,000 in support over the past four financial years.
