Paringa Archers is a sports club located in Launceston, Tasmania, offering the exciting and engaging sport of archery to people of all ages and skill levels. They aim to provide a welcoming and inclusive environment for individuals who wish to try out this ancient and fascinating sport.
For those who are new to archery or simply want to give it a go, Paringa Archers offers their “Archery Come N Try” programme. This programme provides a casual and informal introduction to archery, typically lasting around two and a half hours. Participants have the opportunity to use club equipment or bring their own, with varying fees depending on membership status.
The club holds Come N Try public sessions on the 2nd and 4th Saturday mornings of each month, from 9:30am to 12pm. These sessions take place on their outdoor range, except in the event of rain, in which case the indoor range is used. Interested individuals must register for a session, as there is a limit of 30 people on the shooting line. The minimum age requirement for Saturday morning Come N Try sessions is 7 years old.
Beginners start at the 10m targets, and if they meet certain criteria, they may be allowed to shoot at further distances, under the guidance of a coach.
In addition, the club also offers Wednesday night Come N Try sessions on the first Wednesday of every month, from 6:30pm to 9pm. These sessions take place exclusively on their indoor range. Participants must also register and there is a limit of 9 shooters on the line. The minimum age requirement for Wednesday night Come N Try sessions is 13 years old, and children under 16 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
After completing the Come N Try programme, individuals are able to continue their archery journey at Paringa Archers. They offer various membership levels, which provide access to the club's target range, field course, and Tasmania's only dedicated indoor range. Members are also eligible to participate in more than 12 public Come N Try sessions, as well as sport club tournaments, qualifying and ranking events, Archery Australia and World Archery tournaments, and international events.
Paringa Archers takes great pride in their experienced coaches, who are dedicated to helping individuals develop their archery skills and reach their full potential. Throughout the Come N Try programme and beyond, these coaches provide guidance and support to archers of all levels, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone involved.
Whether you're looking for a new hobby, a recreational activity, or a pathway to competitive archery, Paringa Archers welcomes you to join their dynamic and spirited club.
