The Olympic Winter Institute of Australia (OWIA) is a prestigious sports club located in Melbourne, Australia. Established in collaboration with the Australian Olympic Committee (AOC), the OWIA is an official Olympic Training Centre and a major supporter of Australian winter sports.
The AOC provides significant funding to the OWIA, investing over 1,000,000 in base funding for the 2014-2018 Olympic Quadrennial. This investment aims to strengthen the winter sports system and support athletes competing at the highest international level. Additionally, Olympic Solidarity, a programme of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), provides equipment grants and scholarships to benefit OWIA athletes.
As a principal partner, Sport Australia, also known as the Australian Sports Commission (ASC), supports winter sports through High Performance Funding directly allocated to the OWIA and national federations. The Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) is another programme partner responsible for leading the delivery of Australia's international sporting success and providing world-class expertise and services to high-performance athletes.
The OWIA also boasts commercial partnerships with leading companies in the industry. Karbon, a supplier of custom-made outerwear and technical race wear, ensures that OWIA athletes have the best competition apparel to meet their extreme needs. Mt Buller, the home resort of the OWIA and VIS Australian Aerial Skiing programme, has been a valuable and generous supporter from the beginning, and Club Med, a renowned hospitality brand, has joined forces with OWIA and Ski and Snowboard Australia (SSA) to provide enhanced on-snow accommodation and recovery facilities to athletes during targeted training camps and competitions.
As an official Olympic Training Centre and with the support of various partners, the OWIA is committed to the development and success of Australian winter sports. Through its programmes and partnerships, it aims to provide high-performance athletes with the right support and resources to excel in their pursuit of excellence. Located in Melbourne, the club is at the forefront of promoting and nurturing talented athletes, ensuring they have the best chances of achieving their Olympic dreams.
