Grandmaster Meitoku Yagi was the most senior student of Chojun Miyagi the founder of Goju Ryu. Sensei Yagi is said to have learnt the complete Goju Ryu system from the founder. In 1952, Chujun Miyagi granted permission for Meitoku Yagi to establish his own dojo. The Meibukan (House of the Pure Minded Warrior) dojo was thus established, and Meitoku Yagi continued to teach authentic Okinawan Goju Ryu that focused on Kata Training, body conditioning and kumite drills.
