Northern Suburbs Little Athletics Centre (NSLAC) is a vibrant sports club located in Sydney's Northern Suburbs. It offers a fun and family-friendly environment for children between the ages of 4 and 16 to participate in weekly athletics carnivals from September to March at Rotary Athletics Field on Sydney's Lower North Shore.
The club is focused on promoting an inclusive atmosphere where athletes of all abilities can thrive. They provide free coaching sessions on Sunday afternoons, delivered by qualified coaches, to help athletes improve their skills and performance. NSLAC also places a strong emphasis on personal best (PB) achievements, encouraging athletes to strive for their own individual goals rather than comparing themselves to others.
One notable feature of NSLAC is its commitment to celebrating its 50th year in 2023. As part of this milestone, the club has introduced a new competition uniform designed by Kamilaroi and Wiradjuri brothers, Taj and Rome Kurzydlo. The uniform features indigenous design elements that pay homage to the land on which the competitions take place. It symbolises the connexion of all individuals and the importance of mutual respect for the circle of life.
NSLAC takes pride in acknowledging and respecting the traditional owners of the land, the Eora people, and all First Nations communities.
Participating in little athletics at NSLAC not only helps children develop their athletic abilities but also promotes attributes such as increased speed, strength, and agility that are beneficial to all sporting disciplines. Moreover, the club fosters lasting friendships among its young athletes, who often cite the camaraderie, ice blocks, and BBQs as highlights of their experience.
NSLAC is thankful for the support of its generous sponsors, with Chatswood Orthodontics being the major sponsor. The club encourages the local community to support these sponsors in return.
Registration for the 2023-24 season is currently open, and interested individuals can sign up through the Little Athletics NSW registration portal. The registration fee is $180 per athlete, and NSW Active Kids Vouchers can be used. Additionally, NSLAC offers a Tiny Tots programme for 4-year-old athletes, subject to conditions, at a cost of $160 per athlete.
For more information about NSLAC, including frequently asked questions and a season calendar, individuals can visit the club's website. The club also encourages community engagement through its social media presence and team app. NSLAC is committed to providing a positive and enriching athletics experience for children in the Northern Suburbs of Sydney.
