North Sydney Smallbore and Air Rifle Club Inc. is a highly regarded sports club located at the Hornsby Rifle Range in Sydney, Australia. With a rich history and a passion for small bore rifle shooting, the club has become a prominent fixture in the shooting community.
Small bore rifle shooting is among the oldest of modern Olympic sports and is included in events such as the Commonwealth Games and World Championships. The International Shooting Sports Federation (ISSF) oversees these competitions, highlighting the significance of this sport. Our club members have achieved great success at the NSW championships, where they consistently showcase their skills and dedication.

Over 100 members strong and growing, the club offers a diverse team that is passionate about their sport. Newcomers are encouraged to join the Try Shooting programme, where they can learn the basics and experience the excitement of target shooting firsthand.
At North Sydney Smallbore and Air Rifle Club, safety is the number one priority. Strict adherence to safety rules is enforced to ensure a secure and enjoyable shooting experience for all members. With a commitment to promoting safe practises, the club fosters a positive and inclusive atmosphere.
The club offers a range of disciplines for small bore rifle shooting, with the most popular being prone and benchrest shooting. These competitions take place over a distance of 50 metres and are open to both men and women. The club also accommodates approved Air Rifle disciplines, including ISSF 10m and Air Rifle Metallic Silhouette practise in . 177 and .

Rifles used at the club include the small bore target rifle, which weighs approximately 5 kg and fires subsonic . 22 calibre cartridges. In addition, ISSF target air rifles (6ft lbs energy) and Field target air rifles (12ft lbs energy) in . 177 calibre are utilised.
Operating times for the club vary throughout the week. Clubhouse hours are Monday 9am-12pm, Tuesday 7pm-9:30pm, Friday 7pm-9pm, and Sunday 9am-12pm. Monthly try-shoot sessions are held and must be booked in advance by emailing enquiries@northsydneysmallbore. org.
