North Barrier Branch Surf Life Saving

Welcome to North Barrier Branch Surf Lifesaving! Established in 1936, North Barrier Branch is the second northernmost branch of Surf Life Saving Queensland. Our clubs patrol the stunning beaches between Sarina (near Mackay) in the south and Forrest Beach (near Ingham) in the north. With a variety of environments, from open beaches to rocky island coves surrounded by reef, our club members are experienced in providing top-notch lifesaving services in tropical waters.

With over 80 years of proud history, North Barrier Branch is dedicated to upholding the Surf Life Saving Queensland vision of ‘Zero Preventable deaths in Queensland Public Waters’. We are proud to be a part of Surf Life Saving Australia, an iconic institution with over 100 years of experience in protecting lives. When you become a member of our association, you join more than 34,000 people across 56 clubs within six branches in Queensland who contribute their time to Surf Life Saving and provide an invaluable community service.

The North Barrier Branch provides a range of surf lifesaving advisory, operational, and administrative functions to its affiliated clubs, local government, emergency services, and the community. We prioritise safety and strive to ensure that our beaches are secure and enjoyable for all. Our club members are trained in surf sports, lifesaving education, and various other skills, which enable them to serve the community effectively.

We are proud to have several clubs under North Barrier Branch, including Arcadian SLSC, Ayr SLSC, Eimeo SLSC, Forrest Beach SLSC, Mackay SLSC, Sarina SLSC, and Townsville Picnic Bay SLSC. Each club plays a vital role in patrolling our beaches and contributing to the safety of our community.
