Norman Park State School & District Swimming Club, also known as The Dolphins, is a sports club located in Brisbane, Australia. It operates as a subcommittee of the NPSS P&C Association and aims to provide children with a fun and non-competitive environment to learn and improve their swimming skills. The club welcomes new participants and their families, promoting good sportsmanship and a family-friendly atmosphere.
The Dolphins Swim Club operates every Friday night at the school pool from Term 4 in October to the end of Term 1, excluding the Christmas school holidays. Club nights begin at 5:30pm for a 6pm start and typically run until approximately 7:30pm. To make the evening even more enjoyable, a delicious BBQ dinner is available for purchase each night. The club offers a full season participation fee of $125 or a discounted fee of $85 for 13m swimmers, which includes club togs, a swim cap, water bottle, and a presentation night.
The club caters to swimmers of all skill levels and abilities. Children are not required to be strong swimmers to participate and benefit from the programme. The focus of the club is on personal achievement and improvement, with swimmers aiming to better their own times in time trials. Points are awarded for improvement, and at the end of each season, the swimmer with the most points is named Club Champion.
Even young children can participate in a 'half-pool' race that is not timed and is assisted by senior children, making it suitable for weaker swimmers.
For more information, interested individuals can contact the club via email at npssdsc@gmail. Com or download the promotional flier, FAQ, and participation form. The Swim Club committee includes President Anna Eves, Secretary Leonie Skewis, and Treasurers Jennifer Mackay.
Norman Park State School & District Swimming Club is a valuable addition to the Brisbane community, offering a supportive and inclusive environment for children to develop their swimming skills and enjoy the many benefits of being part of a sports club.
