Newstead Tennis & Squash Centre

Newstead Tennis & Squash Centre is a family-friendly community club in Launceston, Tasmania that offers a range of sporting facilities and competitions for tennis and squash players of all levels. It also provides an excellent social environment for members and visitors.

For tennis enthusiasts, the club boasts four tennis courts that are available to both members and the public. Non-members can hire the courts for a fee, and bookings are managed by the Bar Manager Martin Maddox. Members have access to the court and change room facilities from 7am to 10pm, seven days a week, using a key that requires a $20 refundable deposit. The club has two courts with the latest Tennis Australia standard Plexipave finish and two courts with artificial grass.

There is also an exceptional spectator viewing area and lights for nighttime usage at an additional cost. Separate male and female change rooms with showers are available, along with free off-street car parking. Racquets and balls are included in the court hire fee for non-members, and there is a convenient online booking system. The club also has Autumn and Spring Tennis Pennant teams ranging from A Grade to C Grade.

As for squash enthusiasts, the club's recently renovated squash courts feature brand new front walls. In addition to the sports facilities, Newstead Tennis & Squash Centre also offers a clubroom with a licenced bar. The bar is open from 4pm onwards, Monday to Saturday, and is managed by Martin Maddox. The club has a function room available for hire and provides free off-street car parking. Other amenities include table tennis, dart, and pool tables, as well as BBQ facilities and a grassed area.

The club is also proud to host various community groups and their meetings. The community groups that currently use the facility include The Cavaliers Netball Club, The Van Dieman Fly Fishers, TBug - Tamar Bicycle User Group, and Almighty Clinical Pilates. The club provides a variety of meeting spaces and the option to access the bar, enhancing the social aspect of these gatherings.
