The history of Wing Chun dates back to the early 1700s in China when it was developed by the renowned Shaolin Temple fighter Ng Mei. Inspired by the agile movements of a stork, Ng Mei created a martial art that emphasised speed, efficiency, and deflection of attacks. The art was later named after her student, Yim Wing Chun, who used her newly acquired skills to defend herself against an unwanted suitor.

Today, Wing Chun remains a practical and easy-to-learn form of self-defence. With its focus on close-quarters combat and quick reflexes, it equips practitioners with the necessary skills to respond effectively in real-life situations.
