Welcome to Newcastle City Little Athletics! Located at the Newcastle Athletic Field on Smith Street in Newcastle, we are a sports club dedicated to providing children aged 5-17 with a fun and inclusive environment to participate in athletics.
As a uniquely Australian sport, Little Athletics focuses on modified track and field events that are suitable for children of all ages and abilities. Our wide range of activities includes running, jumping, throwing, and walking events. While winning is not the primary focus, we believe in fostering a sense of fun, friendship, and family involvement in healthy activities. Our motto is “Family, Fun and Fitness,” emphasising the importance of participation and personal improvement.
We understand that children come in all shapes, sizes, and athletic abilities, which is why we strive to cater to their individual needs. Newcastle City Little Athletics prides itself on promoting positive attitudes, healthy lifestyles, and the development of children of all abilities through athletic activities. We believe in the power of family and community involvement in fostering a love for sports and recreation.
Our club meets on Monday afternoons at 5:30 pm at the Newcastle Athletics field. We welcome athletes of all skill levels and backgrounds to join us for a rewarding and enjoyable athletic experience. Throughout the 2023/24 season, we have had 89 athletes participate, achieving 76 personal bests, 247 throws, 1,895 metres thrown, 115 jumps, 270 metres jumped, 312 runs, and a total of 58,642 metres run.
