Mutitjulu Swimming Centre

Mutitjulu Swimming Centre is a sports club located in the Macdonnell Shire of the Northern Territory, Australia. Situated in the Uluru – Kata Tjuta National Park, specifically 25 km south of Yulara, Mutitjulu is easily accessible by either a 50-minute flight or a 5-hour drive from Alice Springs.

The construction of Mutitjulu Swimming Centre was approved on 18 March 2011 by the Uluru-Kata Tjuta Board of Management, and the funds for the development were sourced from the rent money received from the lease of the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. The Mutitjulu Tjurpinytjaku Centre, which houses the swimming pool, was officially opened on Tuesday, 24 September 2013, and operates for 28 weeks each summer season.

The swimming centre aims to serve the community and contribute to their health and well-being. It has implemented the 'Yes School Yes Pool' policy, which has been successful in promoting school attendance and overall community engagement. Freddie Couldwell, the Pool Manager, has been interviewed on ABC radio and has expressed his appreciation for having the “best office in Australia.

Mutitjulu Swimming Centre offers flexible operating hours to meet the needs of the community. The standard opening hours are 3. 00pm to 6. 00pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays, with extended hours of operation on Thursdays from 10.

30am to 6. 30pm. The pool is closed on Wednesdays but opens at 12. 00pm on both Saturdays and Sundays.

However, these operating hours can be adjusted based on specific events or general demand.

The facility takes cultural sensitivity seriously and may close during sensitive periods out of respect for Cultural Business. If individuals or groups wish to access the pool outside the standard opening hours, they can contact Freddie Couldwell at 0410 944 142 to discuss possibilities.

Apart from regular operating hours, Mutitjulu Swimming Centre also provides special opening hours during the summer school holidays. During this period, the pool opens at 12. 00pm from Monday to Friday and at 10. 00am on Saturdays and Sundays.
