Welcome to Mountain Archers Inc. , a sports club located in the picturesque Blue Mountains region of New South Wales, Australia. Our club is dedicated to promoting the sport of archery while prioritising the safety and well-being of our members and guests.
At Mountain Archers, we believe in treating others with respect and fairness. This not only aligns with our values but also reflects the Code of Conduct set forth by Archery Australia, which we strictly adhere to. Any member who violates this code is subject to censure, disciplinary action, and if necessary, expulsion.
Our club prides itself on being family-friendly and inclusive, welcoming individuals of all abilities and ages, from 8-year-olds to those in their 80s. Currently, we have 41 members, all of whom are registered members of Archery Australia and have completed the Advanced Come 'N Try Archery certificates.
A core group of our members competes regularly in tournaments throughout New South Wales and interstate. Notably, we have had past members who have achieved significant success in the sport. Steve Kilgannon, the 2009 Australian Men's Recurve Field Archery Champion, and Sharon Grimston, the current Women's Masters Assisted X-Bow World Silver Medallist, both trained at Mountain Archers. Additionally, Steve Farrell, our club member, holds the current ranking of Open Men's Longbow No.
1 in NSW.
Mountain Archers also has a rich history, with past member Peter Brownlow representing Australia in the Men's Open Compound Division at the World Cup Indoor Archery in Izmir, Turkey, in 2008. Peter, along with his teammates Pat Coghlan from South Australia and Clint Freeman from Tasmania, achieved an impressive 4th place in the Teams Event. Although Peter is currently taking a break from archery, his achievements highlight the calibre of archers who have trained at our club.
