Those interested in coaching and tuition can also find the necessary resources and guidance at the club. For booking and availability, individuals can contact the club or check the website for more information.
The history of the Moree Water-Ski Club dates back over a century, when the Artesian from Moree's famous Hot Artesian Pools was discharged into the Mehi River. In an effort to address environmental concerns and promote health, well-being, and regional sustainability, the Moree Plains Shire Council collaborated with the Moree Water-Ski Club to build a community water park in the Evergreen Precinct, located 10 km south of Moree. The project aims to reuse the water, creating a state-of-the-art recreational facility.
The Moree Water Park features two tournament-standard ski lakes that comply with international standards. Additionally, a recreational circuit lake, extending almost 2. 5 kilometres, is also available. The lakes are currently filling at a rate of approximately 1.
2 million litres of water per day, with the smaller lakes operational. The club aims to have the large circuit lake ready for use by the 2020/21 summer season.
The club encourages community involvement and invites interested individuals to join the project. The community lake will offer various non-powered activities, including triathlons, dragon boat racing, sailing, and paddleboarding. The Moree Water-Ski Club has also made provisions for sub-clubs within its structure, providing additional opportunities for participation.
The facilities at the Moree Water Park cater to a wide range of water sports enthusiasts. Whether it's competitive water-skiing or a family swim on a hot afternoon, the park offers various amenities. These include two purpose-built tournament water ski lakes, each equipped with a slalom course. The layout of the lakes accounts for different wind directions, ensuring an optimal experience.
The park also features a 2. 5-kilometre circuit lake for all water activities (anticipated to be ready for use by the 2020/21 summer season), docks, shade shelters at each tournament lake, a modern amenities block, concrete boat ramps for each lake, a fresh water supply on-site, all-weather access, and plans for a ski jump. Wakeboard rails and kickers will be added in the future, along with picnic and BBQ areas.
