Hanshi Barounis trained in the traditional ways of Karate-do in Japan before bringing his knowledge and expertise to Australia.

This affiliation allows Miyagi Kan students to participate in sports karate competitions organised by the AKF, including the NSW State Championships and National Championships. Throughout the year, there are local, national, and international competitions at various levels, from novice to elite. Miyagi Kan students consistently excel in these competitions, showcasing their skill and dedication.
