With a focus on safety and organisation, the MRCA provides a platform for shooters to come together and participate in a sport they love.
To become a member of the MRCA, individuals must meet certain requirements. Membership is initially granted on a temporary basis by the New South Wales Police Firearms Registry. Final acceptance as an Active Member is subject to approval by the respective Club and the issuance of the appropriate New South Wales Firearms Licence. Once approved, new members are graded by their Club Captains and have the opportunity to progress through the Master, A, B, C, and D grades based on their performance at various distances.
The competitions held by the MRCA are shot at 100, 200, and 300 metres in the standing, sitting, kneeling, and prone positions. Additionally, some practises involve “Fire and Movement,” where shooters engage targets at different ranges while adopting various shooting positions. The firearms used in these competitions primarily consist of bolt-action military rifles such as the S. M.
