Merrylands Amateur Swim Club, located in Sydney, is a well-established sports club with a rich history. Originally formed in 1968, the club is situated at the Merrylands Swimming Centre and has become the second-largest swimming club in the City of Cumberland and the 8th largest in the South Western Area of the Sydney Metropolitan Area (Metro South West).
The club prides itself on catering to swimmers of all ages and abilities, ranging from beginners to champions. With a strong emphasis on fostering a fun and family-oriented atmosphere, Merrylands Amateur Swim Club has attracted members from various communities, including Merrylands, Greystanes, Wentworthville, Holroyd, South Wentworthville, Mays Hill, Westmead, Merrylands West, Smithfield, Woodpark, Pendle Hill, Parramatta, Girraween, Toongabbie, Prospect, Pemulwuy, and surrounding areas.
During summer, from October 1 to March 31, the club holds regular Saturday morning meets at the Merrylands Swimming Centre from 7:00 am to 9:00 am. This provides members with ample opportunities to participate in races and further develop their swimming skills. In addition to the regular meets, the club also offers Learn to Swim lessons on Saturday mornings from October to December. These lessons are specifically designed for members who are looking to enhance their swimming abilities.
Recognising the importance of professional guidance, Merrylands Amateur Swim Club appoints a qualified swimming coach to run coaching sessions for its members. These coaching sessions are available throughout the year and are aimed at helping swimmers improve their techniques and reach their full potential.
The club actively encourages its members to participate in various swimming competitions, including Inter-Club, Area, State, and National meets, as well as Open Water swims and Ocean Swims. By encouraging members to compete at different levels, Merrylands Amateur Swim Club fosters a competitive spirit and reinforces the importance of sportsmanship and achievement.
Merrylands Amateur Swim Club is proud to be affiliated with Swimming Metro South West (formerly Cumberland Amateur Swimming Association), Swimming NSW, and Swimming Australia, making it part of the Metropolitan Area of New South Wales. The club is also affiliated with Masters Swimming NSW and Masters Swimming Australia, highlighting its commitment to providing opportunities for swimmers of all ages to stay active and involved in the sport.
