The Melbourne Runabout & Speedboat Club was established in 1957 with the aim of promoting the use of all classes of power boats in Melbourne and providing a safe and friendly venue for boat racing, social skiing, and tournament skiing. The club is affiliated with several reputable boating associations, including the Australian Power Boat Association (APBA), the Victorian Water Ski Association (VWSA), the Australian Water Ski Association (AWSA), and is an associate member of the Boating Industry of Australia (BIA).

The club takes pride in its involvement in the local community and has organised various events over the years, including the Melton Gold Cup, V. W. A Disabled Ski Tournament, Wakeboard Victoria series, interclub skiing tournaments and coaching, Victoria Police Social Functions, Big Brother/Big Sister Programmes, National Scout Jamboree, Wedding Receptions, and Christmas Party Celebrations.

These include a power-boat racing course, a slalom ski course, a competition ski jump, landscaped gardens, modern playground equipment, a fully maintained two-story clubhouse, change rooms with hot showers, picnic facilities, gas barbecues, toilets, wheelchair accessible toilets and change rooms, electric boat launching ramps, a multi-bay floating pontoon, and large car parking areas.

The Melbourne Runabout & Speedboat Club boasts an impressive boat access to over 5 kilometres of water. The large docking area can accommodate up to 18 boats, allowing for a seamless launching and retrieval process. The club also takes pride in its recent additions, including a new slalom course for members and competitors and the ongoing repairs of the ski jump.

Members, their families, and friends of all ages are encouraged to make use of the club's facilities for waterskiing and fishing activities. However, it is important to adhere to facility etiquette, such as taking turns and queuing at the launching ramps when multiple boats are present.
