The Mathis story dates back to 1960 when Lynda Mathis founded the Mathis School of Dancing with just six students. Her goal was to share her love and passion for dance, as well as introduce students to various dance styles and theatre performance. Now in its 63rd year, Mathis Dance Studios continues to excel in Cecchetti ballet exams, competitions, and performance work under the guidance of Lynda's daughter, Jen Barfoot, and granddaughter, Bridget Barfoot. The Mathis legacy lives on through the dedication and commitment of the Barfoot family.
Jen Barfoot, the owner of Mathis Dance Studios, has been immersed in the dance family since a young age and continues to uphold her mother's philosophy. In 2016, she decided to give the studio a new look as “Mathis Dance Studios” while staying true to the traditions and values instilled by Lynda Mathis. As the studio continues to evolve, Jen works closely with her daughter Bridget to ensure the legacy and passion for dance lives on for future generations.
