Maryborough Clay Target Club Inc is a sports club located on the northern edge of Maryborough, Queensland. Established in 1962, the club has a rich history and is still going strong on its current 9. 75-hectare site at Island Plantation.
The club offers a range of clay target shooting activities, including trap shooting and 5 Stand Sporting Clays. Trap shooting, also known as clay-pigeon shooting, involves participants using shotguns to shoot at saucer-shaped clay targets launched into the air from a spring device called a trap. It is a popular and challenging sport that allows individuals to sharpen their shooting skills.
In addition to trap shooting, the Maryborough Clay Target Club also offers 5 Stand Sporting Clays. This activity is designed to emulate hunting scenarios using clay targets instead of live game. It provides participants with a unique and exciting shooting experience.
The club operates on designated days and times. Normal hours of operation for practise are Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10 am to 1 pm, and the public is welcome to participate. Competition days are held on the third Sunday of each month and are exclusive to registered ACTA members. However, shooting can take place at any time during the council approved hours of operation, which are 9 am to 5 pm, seven days a week for practise, and 8 am to sunset for extra competition days.
The Maryborough Clay Target Club welcomes individuals who are interested in relaxation, improving their shooting skills, or challenging themselves in competition. Whether you are a seasoned shooter or a beginner, the club offers a friendly and supportive environment for all. It is encouraged to come and meet some members to see firsthand what the club has to offer.
For those interested in becoming members, the club offers registered ACTA Trap and ACTA 5 Stand Sporting Clays. Membership forms for the upcoming year can be found on the club's website.
The club's location is easily accessible by following the Hervey Bay signs through Maryborough and turning right at the sign for “Island Plantation” after passing the entrance to Maryborough Airport. Detailed directions can be found on the club's website.
