About

Margaret River Rowing Club is a sports club located in the Shire of Augusta-Margaret River, Australia. Situated on the banks of the picturesque Margaret River, the club boasts a uniquely designed clubhouse. In the past, access to the clubhouse had been limited due to development in the area, but it has since been rebuilt after being destroyed in the 2011 Margaret River Bush Fires.

Margaret River Rowing Club is proud to be a part of Margaret River Water Sports, which provides information about various water sports activities in the area. The website is a voluntary project aimed at coordinating and disseminating information about water sports in the Margaret River region. Individuals and clubs can contact the website administrators to add information about their own clubs or activities.

In addition to rowing, Margaret River Rowing Club also offers opportunities for swimming. The Margaret River Squad Swimming Club is affiliated with the club and welcomes swimmers of all ages. The club also caters to junior swimmers with their Junior Lifeguard Swimming programme. Held during school terms 1, 2, and 4 on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 7am-8am, the programme is designed for children who have progressed from Learn to Swim classes and want to enhance their swimming skills in preparation for becoming lifeguards. The emphasis is on fun and enjoyment without the pressure of competitive swimming. IGA provides breakfast free of charge, but parent assistance is required.

For those interested in masters swimming, Margaret River Rowing Club is represented by The Breakers. The club has a rich history in both open water swimming and pool swimming since the opening of the swimming pool in 1997. In 2007-2008, a Margaret River-based Masters Team achieved third place overall in the Rottnest Channel Swim and second place in the Veterans Class. The Breakers have also achieved success in the pool, finishing second out of the country clubs in 2004.

Dieter Loeliger, one of the club's esteemed members, has an impressive list of accomplishments, including 15 Rottnest Solo Swims, an English Channel crossing, and a Lake Zurich crossing. The club organises swim meets such as the Gnarabup Swim in early January and the Cowaramup Swim on Easter Saturday.

Margaret River Rowing Club invites individuals and teams to join them in their love for rowing, swimming, and water sports. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced athlete, the club provides a supportive and inclusive environment for all.
