The Manly Bombers Junior AFL Club, founded in 2001, is a leading sports club located on the lower Northern Beaches of Sydney, Australia. With our home ground at Weldon Oval in North Curl Curl, the club aims to introduce, teach, develop, and promote the AFL code within the broader Manly - Warringah community, while also contributing towards the physical, social, and personal development of the children involved.
Catering for ages 5 to 18 years old, the Manly Bombers Junior AFL Club provides opportunities for children of all ages to learn and enjoy the unique craft of Aussie Rules football. Our club fosters essential values such as courage, self-confidence, discipline, and team spirit, in addition to teaching the skills of Australian Rules Football.
The club offers a range of divisions, from Auskick to Under 18s, each with their own set of modified rules and structures. For ages 5 to 8, the focus is on fun and developing a love for the sport, with limited contact and no grading. From Under 9 to 10, an introduction to team structure is emphasised, along with modified tackling and no grading. For ages Under 11 to 12, graded competition structure and modified tackling are introduced.
Youth football is played on a full-size oval for ages Under 13 to 17, with some modified rules to ensure maximum participation and enjoyment in a competitive, fun, and safe environment. The Under 17 age group provides a transition phase for players before progressing to adult football.
The club also has dedicated competitions for girls aged Under 10, 12, 14, 16, and 18, where they play on a modified field with modified rules. Australian Football is a fun, safe, and inclusive contact sport that allows all children to participate and enjoy the game. All coaches are trained by the AFL and possess a minimum of Level 1 credentials.
The main objective of the Manly Bombers Junior AFL Club is for players to have fun, enjoy the game, and become proficient in the skills of Australian Football. All players, coaches, and parents are expected to adhere to the AFL's “Code of Conduct” rules.
