Maitland City Bowls Club is one of the leading bowling clubs in the Newcastle and Hunter areas of Australia. As a member of the Hunter District Bowling association and Zone 6 Bowling association, the club has a strong reputation for success on the greens. Over the years, Maitland City has produced district, zone, and state champions, as well as state representatives and winners of state flags in various pennant grades. The club is known for its competitive spirit and welcomes new bowlers with open arms.
The club offers a variety of social games throughout the week. On Mondays, the greens are closed, but all other social games are open to players of both genders. Tuesdays feature Partner Pairs with two games of 10 ends. Wednesdays, during Daylight Saving Time, offer Nominated Pairs with one game of 18 ends.
Outside of DST, Twilight Triples is played with one game of 18 ends. Thursdays also feature Partner Pairs with two games of 10 ends. Fridays from October to April offer Nominated Pairs with one game of 15 ends. Saturdays are dedicated to social bowls with varying formats, and Sundays are reserved for championship play.
To participate in these games, interested individuals can visit the bowls section of the club or contact the office.
Club Maitland City also offers free bowls coaching by former U/25 Irish International DJ Dilworth. Interested individuals can make an appointment by checking the club's Bowls Noticeboard or calling the Bowls Office.
The club's bowls programme is set monthly but is subject to change at short notice. To confirm the schedule, individuals are encouraged to call the bowls office.
