About

Maffra-Sale Motorcycle Club Inc. is a well-established sports club based in Melbourne, Australia. Since its inception in 1947, the club has been dedicated to promoting and participating in various forms of motorcycle sport and recreation. With approximately 350 members ranging from 5 to 75 years old, the club caters to individuals with diverse interests, including Motocross, Trials, Enduro, Road racing, Historic touring, and Trail riding.

The club maintains two facilities to accommodate its activities. The Morrison St Clubrooms in Maffra serves as the headquarters and showcases the club's memorabilia and a historic record of motorcycling in the Gippsland region. This venue can accommodate up to 100 people and offers kitchen facilities for hire. The second facility is the Newry Motocross track, a 2.

25 km undulating track with various surfaces. It provides a safe and competitive arena for off-road riders of all ages. The Newry facility also features amenities such as a canteen, wash down bays, showers/toilets, and an extensive undercover area for shelter during unfavourable weather conditions.

Throughout the years, Maffra-Sale Motorcycle Club Inc. has hosted several notable events, including the 2009 Australian Junior Motocross Championships, MX Nationals Round, Senior and Junior Motocross Championship Rounds, Gippsland Region Motocross Championship Rounds, the Great Divide Trail Ride, and the Annual Harold Parsons Reliability Ride.

The club has a rich history, beginning with its first club ride in the Gormandale area, where members shot a rabbit and enjoyed it for lunch. They organised their first Scramble event at Glencoe Lane in Longford before moving to Myrtlebank, where they held events for many years. In the early days, many riders would ride their bikes to the Scrambles and remove the lights to race all day before riding back home. The club also used to collect donations from the crowd with a blanket, supporting charitable causes such as fitting out an ambulance for Sale.

In the early 1950s, the club merged with the Maffra-Sale Car Club due to a shortage of members. Eventually, both clubs regained their individual identities as membership numbers increased. The club relocated its track to the Newry Recreation Reserve, where they once raced over the old Rifle butt and through the creek. The emergence of Japanese motorcycles in the 1970s brought significant changes to the sport, transforming scrambles into longer Moto X events.

Maffra-Sale Motorcycle Club Inc. continues to foster a supportive and exciting environment for motorcycle enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels. With a diverse range of activities and well-maintained facilities, the club offers the opportunity for members to engage in their passion for the sport and build lasting friendships within the motorcycle community.
