Most exciting years yet. We pride ourselves on being a club that not only focuses on the development and success of our players, but also on building a strong sense of community and family.
Our club offers playing opportunities for boys, girls, women, and men of all ages and skill levels. From the littlest footballers in Mini Roos (4–8 years old) to the most experienced adults, everyone is welcome to join us on the field. We believe in providing opportunities that allow our members to learn new skills, develop existing ones, stay active, make lifelong friends, and reach their full potential.
At Mackay Wanderers, we value the core principles of teamwork, cooperation, fair play, and respect for others. These values are at the heart of everything we do, both on and off the field. We want all our members to embody these principles and carry them into their everyday lives.
As the President of Mackay Wanderers Football Club, I invite you to become a part of our club's vibrant history. We started in Mackay in 1923 and have grown in size and success over the years. Our home ground is now the Wanderers Sports Park in Ben Nevis Street at Beaconsfield. In 2023, we are thrilled to be celebrating our centenary, alongside the excitement of the Women's World Cup being hosted by Australia and New Zealand.
Our club fields teams in the local competition, including Mini Roos, Junior, Youth, Senior Men, and Women. We offer both mixed and girls-only competitions, with a focus on increasing female participation in the sport. We currently have girls-only teams for players aged 5 to 12. Our Senior teams compete in all Men's grades, including FQPL and Community League, while our Youth sides participate in the FQPL and Div 1 competitions.
To ensure that our coaches are equipped to provide the best coaching experience for our players, we invest in their education and development. We have a Coaching Coordinator and participate in Football Queensland coaching programmes/certification to support our coaches.
There are numerous opportunities to get involved within our club, and we welcome all levels of involvement. From helping with small tasks like cutting oranges to joining our committee, we appreciate any contribution. We also hold regular social events, including the highly successful Junior carnival in August each year.
2023 promises to be an extraordinary year for Mackay Wanderers Football Club, as we celebrate our centenary and continue to grow and succeed both on and off the field. We invite you to join us and be a part of our football history and future.
