Logan Village Falcons All Sports (FQ - Football Brisbane) is a thriving sports club located in Logan City, Australia. The club was originally formed in 1993 under the name Logan Village Soccer Club and participated in the BSDJSA competition in 1994. Initially, the club played on the Beaudesert Shire Council grounds, which were small, hard, and unsuitable for playing soccer. Recognising the need for growth, the club sought new grounds in which to develop.
In 1994, following the Council elections, members of the committee and the newly elected local councillor explored several Council lands in Logan Village. Eventually, the Big River Country Park was chosen as the new location for the club, despite being overgrown and farther away from Waterford-Tamborine Road. The Beaudesert Shire Council drafted a Concept Plan for the park's development, obtained Town Planning approval, cleared necessary land while preserving large trees, and built essential infrastructure such as drainage and a dam.
One of the significant achievements of the club was the construction of a spacious clubhouse. Instead of opting for tin sheds, the club members decided to provide their own labour to build a substantial clubhouse. With $60,000 from the Beaudesert Shire Council, which was allocated for public toilets within the building, and additional funds previously spent on the grounds, the club secured a $50,000 grant from the Department of Sport & Recreation. With a total of $110,000 in hand, the club members entered into a contract with the Council to construct the clubhouse.
Over the next 12 months, dedicated club members sacrificed their weekends to turn their vision into reality.
The Clubhouse was officially opened in 1997, and the club has since undergone a name change in 2009 to Logan Village Falcons All Sports to reflect the inclusion of various sports. The club has consistently strived to improve its facilities over the years, thanks to grants from organisations such as Sport & Rec, Community Gambling Benefit Fund, Logan City Council, and Logan Country Community Bank. These grants have been instrumental in upgrading the canteen, enhancing clubhouse security, installing screens and shade shelters, providing training for volunteers in coaching, first aid, and RSA, acquiring new equipment, developing tennis courts, upgrading field lighting, installing field lighting for SSF fields, implementing main field irrigation, and installing a scoreboard for the main field.
Logan Village Falcons All Sports is not just a club; it is a testament to the spirit of community and the dedication of its members. From its humble beginnings on inadequate grounds to the establishment of a remarkable clubhouse and continuous improvements to its facilities, the club has always put the needs of its players and the community first. With a commitment to nurturing sporting talent and providing a welcoming environment for all, Logan Village Falcons All Sports remains a pillar of the Logan City community.
