Lidcombe Waratah Junior Soccer Club offers a variety of programmes and competitions for children between the ages of 6 and 14. The club's summer football season, which concluded in December 2020, was a resounding success, with over 90 children participating. The season provided an excellent opportunity for kids to maintain their fitness and enhance their skills before winter in 2021.
The club's junior competition was organised meticulously, and all participants were awarded medals to commemorate their efforts. Throughout the season, the teams were skilfully led by dedicated coaches such as Adel Helal, Dimitri Chiras, Siesi Taufaao, Lee Rennie, Andy Chung, and Jace Sitchon. Their guidance and expertise ensured that the players were well-prepared for every match.
The grand final of the Lidcombe Waratah Summer Football Junior competition was a captivating event, showcasing the talents and determination of the young athletes. The atmosphere was electric as Lidcombe City, coached by John, faced off against DC FC, coached by Andy, for third place. All Might FC, under the guidance of Jurgen, competed against You Never Waratah Alone (YNWA), coached by Lee, for the title. The matches were fiercely contested, with every team showcasing remarkable skills and sportsmanship.
Apart from the junior competition, Lidcombe Waratah Junior Soccer Club also hosts a seniors competition. The recent grand final saw the Astronauts emerge victorious, defeating the Amigos 5-1 at Coleman Park. The competition featured six teams, including You'll Never Walk Alone, The FutSoldiers, The Elite Ballerz, and 2 Wild 1 Mild. The spirited matches in the seniors division showcased the passion and skill of the players involved.
The club prides itself on being a strong community supporter and recognised the challenges faced by the community in 2020, including the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. In response, Lidcombe Waratah Junior Soccer Club decided to host the summer football season for the first time in its history. The success of the season not only provided a platform for young athletes to thrive but also brought the community together in a celebration of the sport.
