Welcome to Koonawarra Bay Sailing Club, a premier sports club located on Kanahooka Point, Dapto, in beautiful Wollongong. Founded in 1956 by a group of passionate sailing enthusiasts, our club has a rich history and offers a fantastic sailing experience. Whether you are an experienced sailor or new to the sport, we invite you to join us and become a part of our vibrant community.

Conveniently situated just 1. 5 hours drive from Sydney, our club is located on the western shore of Lake Illawarra, providing an excellent sailing venue. The lake, approximately 10 km long and 5 km wide, offers open water with minimal shore and tidal effects, making it perfect for full-sized racecourses. Our elevated viewing area allows spectators to enjoy a breathtaking view of the racing action.

At Koonawarra Bay Sailing Club, we take pride in our facilities. We have large grassed yacht preparation areas with easy access to the lake, allowing for convenient boat launching and retrieval. We also offer boat washing, shower, and catering facilities to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable experience for all members.

Our current fleet comprises International One Metre and International A Class radio yachts, as well as foiling windsurfers. However, we welcome all types of sailing craft, so feel free to bring your own boat and join in the fun. If you are new to sailing, our club also provides basic sailing instruction for the inexperienced, ensuring that everyone can participate and learn.

Not only do we offer fantastic sailing opportunities, but our clubhouse is also an ideal venue for special occasions. With a 10-metre by 9-metre carpeted clubroom, an outside balcony, and fabulous views of Lake Illawarra and the escarpment, our clubhouse can accommodate a range of functions. It features fluorescent overhead lights, dimmable wall lights, air conditioning, and ceiling fans for your comfort. Our fully-equipped kitchen includes a fridge, freezer, oven, hotplates, microwave oven, pie warmer, urn, and utensils.

We provide tables and chairs for 80 people, as well as cutlery, glasses, and white crockery.
