Kei Shin Kan Karate-Do, Neutral Bay is a sports club located in Sydney, Australia. It specialises in Traditional Japanese Karate and is suitable for people of all ages and fitness levels. The club focuses not only on physical training but also on mental training, making it a holistic approach to karate.
At Kei Shin Kan Karate-Do, there is a diverse range of participants, including individuals in their 50s, 60s, and 70s, as well as children, teenagers, and young adults. The club understands that each individual has different capabilities, and the level and nature of physical activity are adjusted accordingly. There is no expectation for older individuals to be as agile and flexible as younger ones or for children to be as strong as adults.
As a not-for-profit organisation, the goal of the Australia Kei Shin Kan Karate Federation is to promote traditional karate-do in Australia. They aim to encourage the development and growth of individuals through karate training under the guidance of Shihan Uchida and the instructors. With consistent dedication to training on both a physical and spiritual level, participants will see improvements in mindset, endurance, and strength over time.
The club has a strong focus on self-discipline, patience, confidence, and respect for others. Participants also improve concentration, mental alertness, and mental agility. Additionally, the training contributes to better physical health, flexibility, and overall well-being. There is an emphasis on developing speed, power, timing, accuracy, and effective breathing techniques.
Participants learn correct basic techniques, kata (forms), controlled sparring, and self-defence. The club also encourages the understanding and development of the traditional spirit of Karate Do.
Kei Shin Kan Karate Do has dojos both nationally and internationally. In Australia, they have dojos located in New South Wales, Victoria, and Tasmania.
The club offers an introductory course, where the first lesson is free, and participants can then avail 4 weeks of training for $49. This allows newcomers to experience the training and decide if it is suitable for them.
