Kawana Tennis Club is a reputable sports club located in the scenic Sunshine Coast region of Australia. With a prime location, the club offers a stunning backdrop for tennis enthusiasts of all skill levels to enjoy the sport.
The club caters to both recreational and tournament players, ensuring that there is something for everyone. It boasts a strong roster of top-level adult and junior players, including notable names such as Phil Janz, Pat Flynn, Geoff Rafter, Luke Harvey, Simon Merrin, Jack Moore, Scott Dawson, Koby Jansen, Somer Dalla-Bona, and Dane Sweeny.
The club's primary focus is the Sunshine Coast Tennis League (SCTL), which takes place on Saturdays from 2 to 5 pm. The competition rotates between Kawana, Mooloolaba, and Caloundra Tennis Clubs, with all matches held at one venue. Each team consists of two players who compete in both singles and doubles matches. The SCTL is suitable for players aged 10 years and older and follows a standard-based (mixed) format.
What sets the SCTL apart is its accommodation for players who also participate in Australian Ranking Tournaments and Sunshine Coast Junior Development Series Tournaments. The league is specifically scheduled around these events, allowing tournament players to still have the opportunity to engage in regular team tennis. Non-tournament players also benefit from the flexibility, as they are not required to commit to tennis every weekend.
The SCTL competition dates for 2014 include February 8th, 15th, and 22nd, March 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd, and 29th, May 10th and 17th (backup date for weather), June 14th and 21st (Finals), and June 22nd (Grand final). The winning teams in Division 1, Division 2, and Division 3 will receive cash prizes of $650, $250, and $150, respectively. Players are required to pay $15 each week to participate, and there is no registration fee for teams.
To further enhance the experience, each venue will host a complimentary sausage sizzle starting from 2:30 pm. This adds a social element to the competition and allows players to relax and mingle while enjoying a tasty meal.
For individuals seeking more information about the SCTL, the club encourages them to approach their local coach, consult the SCTL Fact Sheet, or visit the Tennis Australia website at http://tennis.
