At Ilyo Taekwondo Narooma, we offer a range of classes tailored to different levels and interests. Our family beginners class is the perfect opportunity for both children and adults to dive into the exciting world of Taekwondo together. This engaging and fun-based fitness programme will not only provide a great workout but also build confidence, self-esteem, and teach important values such as respect and self-controlled discipline.
For those who are ready for a more challenging experience, our Vipers Intermediate Class is ideal. In this class, participants will learn the importance of self-motivation and self-discipline while practising friendly light contact sparring. This class promotes resilience, respect, compassion, and humility, allowing students to advance their skills and knowledge of Taekwondo.
Our Panthers and Scorpions Class is designed for advanced students with Red and Black Belts. This intensive programme will help build both physical and mental strength through full contact sparring and self-defence training. Participants in this class have the opportunity to become team leaders and role models, with the option to train as assistant instructors and participate in our black belt programme.
We also offer a Sparring and Fitness Class for students of all levels. This class focuses on teaching advanced techniques and provides the opportunity to develop flexibility, strength, confidence, and self-esteem. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced martial artist, our Sparring Class is a fantastic way to push your limits and achieve your goals.
In addition, we have a dedicated Women's Class, which aims to empower women both physically and mentally. Led by experienced and supportive instructors, this class provides a challenging and safe environment for women of all ages and fitness levels to learn and grow in the martial arts.
For those interested in learning weapon fighting, we offer a Weapons Class. This class focuses on the fundamentals of stick fighting, bongsul (stick), kumsul (sword), and ssangbongsul (two sticks) techniques. Our experienced instructors will guide you through the foundations of weapon fighting and teach valuable self-defence skills.
Since our founding in 2012, Ilyo Taekwondo Narooma has been dedicated to helping countless students acquire foundational life and physical skills, develop new techniques, and confidently progress in their learning journey. Our club was founded by Zoe Cooper, who grew up practising Taekwondo and recognised a need for a club on the south coast. Zoe Cooper is the Master Head Instructor of Ilyo Narooma, continuing the legacy of her father, Paul Cooper, who established Ilyo Taekwondo in the Barossa Valley, South Australia in 1985. After his passing in 2016, Ilyo Barossa was handed down to Miss Duan Maguire, who now serves as the head instructor.
